Outline

Chapter One:
1- Gibson smokes on hill.
2- Gibson flashes back to not telling his mother about problem.
3- He resolves to fix problem himself.
Chapter Two:
1- Kopelson waits for phone call.
2- He hangs around until he gets it.
3- He finds out he is losing business.
Chapter Three:
1- Menke arrives for unusually busy day at work.
2- Gibson seems off.
3- He screws a family over.
4- He goes home to his wife.
Chapter Four:
1- Menke receives letter from FTC.
2- He hides it from his wife.
Chapter Five:
1- Kopelson needs one month worth of supplies.
2- See Menke’s name.
3- Flashes back to conversation.
4- Calls him.
Chapter Six:
1- Kopelson calls Menke.
2- They agree to meet for drinks.
3- They get drunk and discuss problems.
4- Kopelson reveals plan, Menke is intrigued but afraid.
5- Menke goes home and gets new letter from FTC
6- Resolves to join Kopelson.

(From this point on the novel is hypothetical.)

Chapter Seven:
1- Menke delivers part to Kopelson.
2- Finds out Gibson’s problem.
3- Asks Kopelson to let Gibson in.
4- Kopelson hesitates.
5- Kopelson meets Gibson.
6- Kopelson lets Gibson in.
Chapter Eight:
1- The money rolls in and problems are solved.
2- The month ends.
3- The three decide to keep going.
Chapter Nine:
1- Grandmother infected with syphallis.
2- Gibson leaves and vows to keep quiet.
3- The two allow him to leave peacefully.
4- The Justice Department steps in.
Chapter Ten:
1- The three meet and decided on a plan.
2- They argue about how to get out. Gibson says come clean, Menke says nothing, and Kopelson says destroy evidence.
3- Gibson makes it clear he will confess.
4- Kopelson convinces Menke that Gibson must die.
5- Gibson confesses.
Chapter Eleven:
1- They wait for Gibson at his place.
2- They kill him and dispose of the body.
3- They resolve to destroy all evidence and get out of the industry.
Chapter Twelve:
1- Menke is arrested.
2- Kopelson freaks.
3- Kopelson commits suicide.
